c. 445 BC
Nehemiah, cupbearer to the Persian king, received permission to return to Jerusalem and rebuild its broken walls. Despite fierce opposition from Sanballat, Tobiah, and others, the wall was completed in just 52 days through prayer and determined effort.
Nehemiah's leadership demonstrates the power of prayer combined with practical action. Rebuilding the walls restored Jerusalem's security and dignity, and the spiritual renewal that followed set the course for Second Temple Judaism.
