Evening — The God Who Sees You

By Charles Spurgeon

"And she called the name of the Lord that spake unto her, Thou God seest me."

Hagar was alone in the wilderness — cast out, forgotten by the world, carrying a burden too heavy for her weary frame. But in that desolate place, the Angel of the Lord found her. And when He spoke, she gave Him a name that has comforted countless souls since: "Thou God seest me." El Roi — the God who sees.

Perhaps this evening you feel unseen. Perhaps your labours go unnoticed, your struggles unacknowledged, your tears uncounted by those around you. Take heart, dear friend. The God who saw Hagar in the wilderness sees you right where you are. Not a single tear falls without His notice. Not a single prayer goes unheard.

To be seen by God is not a cause for dread but for deep comfort. He sees not to condemn but to care, not to judge but to help. He sees your weariness and offers rest. He sees your loneliness and draws near. He sees your need and provides. Tonight, let this truth settle deep into your heart: the God of all creation sees you, knows you, and loves you with an everlasting love.
