Morning — Drawing Near with Confidence

By Charles Spurgeon

"Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need."

What a glorious invitation greets the believer each morning! The throne of the Almighty — before which angels veil their faces — is called a throne of grace, and we are bid to come boldly. Not timidly, not reluctantly, but boldly, with the full confidence of children approaching a loving Father.

This boldness is not rooted in our own worthiness but in the merit of our great High Priest, who has gone before us and opened the way through His own blood. We come not in our own name but in the name of Jesus, and in that name we are always welcome, always heard, always received with delight.

Whatever need presses upon you this morning — whether it be mercy for past failures or grace for present trials — bring it boldly to the throne. God does not turn away His children. He delights to give good gifts to those who ask. Come as you are, with all your weakness and need, and find that His grace is more than sufficient for the day ahead.
