Isaiah 40:31
Open in Bible Reader"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint."
Here is the secret to enduring strength: waiting upon the Lord. The world tells us that strength comes from striving, hustling, and pushing harder. But the prophet Isaiah reveals a different path — the path of patient, expectant trust in God. Those who wait upon the Lord do not waste their time; they are being renewed from within by the power of the Almighty.
Observe the descending order: first mounting up, then running, then walking. Some suppose that walking without fainting is the least of these, but in truth it is the greatest. Anyone can soar in moments of spiritual ecstasy, and many can run in seasons of excitement. But to walk — day after day, step after step, through the ordinary and the mundane — without fainting? That requires a supernatural strength that only God can give.
This morning, do not despair if you feel weak. Your weakness is the very qualification for receiving God's strength. Wait upon Him in prayer, in His Word, and in quiet trust. He will renew your strength — not in your timing, but in His, and His timing is always perfect.
