1 Corinthians 13:4-7
Open in Bible Reader"Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."
Love is the heartbeat of the Gospel. God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son. Everything God does flows from His perfect, unconditional love for us.
But love is not just a feeling — it is a choice and an action. Paul describes love in 1 Corinthians 13 not as an emotion, but as a series of deliberate decisions: patience when we want to react, kindness when it is easier to be cold, humility when pride calls us to boast.
The love described here is impossible in our own strength. We grow impatient, we get angry, we keep score. But when we allow God to love through us — when we just allow God — His love transforms our relationships, our communities, and our own hearts.
Today, choose one aspect of this love to focus on. Perhaps you need to be more patient with a family member, more kind to a coworker, or more forgiving of yourself. Let God love through you.
Prayer: Father, teach me to love the way You love. Fill me with patience, kindness, and humility. Help me to love others not in my own strength, but through the power of Your Spirit. Amen.
