The Spirit directed Philip to the road from Jerusalem to Gaza, where he encountered an Ethiopian eunuch reading Isaiah 53. Philip explained that the passage spoke of Jesus, and the eunuch believed and was baptized, carrying the Gospel to Africa.
This encounter demonstrates the Gospel breaking through ethnic and social barriers. The Ethiopian eunuch, as a Gentile and a eunuch, would have been excluded from the temple, but the Gospel welcomed him fully into God's family.
