Evening — Casting All Your Cares Upon Him

By Charles Spurgeon

"Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you."

The apostle Peter does not say "cast some of your cares" or "cast the small ones and keep the big ones." He says cast ALL your cares upon Him. Every worry, every burden, every anxious thought — God invites you to throw the whole lot upon His broad and mighty shoulders. And the reason is astonishingly simple: He cares for you.

The God who upholds the universe by the word of His power, who counts the stars and calls them each by name, who governs the rise and fall of nations — this same God cares about you. Not merely about humanity in general, but about you personally, individually, by name. Your concerns matter to Him. Your struggles move His heart.

As this day draws to its close, do not carry your burdens to bed with you. Instead, cast them — the word implies a deliberate, forceful action — cast them upon the Lord. He is able to bear what you cannot. He is willing to carry what crushes you. Let go, dear child of God. Your Father has you in the palm of His hand, and nothing can pluck you from His care.
