Can you imagine it? The Almighty God — mighty to save, sovereign over all creation — singing over you with joy? This is one of the most breathtaking pictures in all of Scripture. God does not merely tolerate you. He does not grudgingly endure you. He rejoices over you with joy and sings over you with delight.
And notice the phrase "he will rest in his love." Some translations render it "he will quiet you with his love." What a picture for the close of day! As a mother sings a lullaby to quiet her restless child, so the Lord God sings over you, calming your anxious heart with the melody of His unfailing love.
Tonight, let the God who is in your midst — not far off, but right here with you — quiet your soul with His love. You do not need to strive or worry or plan. Simply rest and listen. Your mighty God is singing over you, and His song is one of joy, of delight, and of everlasting love. What a lullaby to fall asleep to.
