Morning — The Power of the Spoken Word of God

By Charles Spurgeon

"For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit."

The Word of God is not a dead letter upon a page — it is living and active, sharper than the finest blade ever forged by human hands. When you open your Bible this morning, you hold in your hands a supernatural instrument. It is able to reach places that no human counsel can touch, dividing between soul and spirit with surgical precision.

This Word has power to save the lost, strengthen the weak, comfort the grieving, and convict the wayward. Empires have risen and fallen, philosophies have come and gone, but the Word of God stands forever. It has survived every attempt to suppress it and has outlasted every critic who mocked it.

Dear believer, do not neglect this mighty weapon. Read it daily, meditate upon it hourly, and hide it in your heart. In times of temptation, it will be your defence. In times of sorrow, it will be your comfort. In times of confusion, it will be your guide. The Word of God is alive — let it do its living work in your soul today.
