Evening — The Everlasting Arms Beneath You

By Charles Spurgeon

Deuteronomy 33:27

Open in Bible Reader
"The eternal God is thy refuge, and underneath are the everlasting arms."

What a magnificent promise to end the day with! Underneath you — beneath every trial, beneath every fear, beneath every failure — are the everlasting arms of God. You cannot fall lower than His arms can reach. You cannot sink deeper than His love extends. The eternal God Himself is your refuge.

These arms are not the arms of a weak or weary helper. They are the arms that flung the stars into space, that parted the Red Sea, that rolled away the stone from the tomb of Christ. They are everlasting — they will never grow tired, never let go, never fail. From eternity past to eternity future, His arms are beneath you.

Tonight, if you feel as though you are falling — falling in faith, falling in strength, falling in hope — remember that underneath are the everlasting arms. You may not feel them, but they are there. You may not see them, but they hold you still. Let yourself fall, dear child of God, for you will only fall into the arms of your Father. And there is no safer place in all the universe.
