When Pharaoh ordered all Hebrew baby boys killed, Moses' mother placed him in a basket on the Nile. Pharaoh's daughter found and adopted him. Moses was raised in the Egyptian court but remained connected to his Hebrew identity.
God preserved Moses to be the deliverer of Israel, the mediator of the covenant, and the greatest prophet of the Old Testament. His deliverance from the water foreshadows baptism and new life.
