After the tenth plague, Pharaoh released the Israelites. Approximately two million people left Egypt, guided by a pillar of cloud by day and fire by night. This was the greatest act of deliverance in the Old Testament.
The Exodus defines Israel's identity as God's redeemed people. It becomes the paradigm for all of God's saving acts and prefigures the ultimate exodus accomplished by Christ on the cross.
