Paul lived in Rome under house arrest for two years, freely preaching the kingdom of God and teaching about Jesus Christ. He received visitors, wrote epistles to churches, and the Gospel penetrated even into Caesar's household.
The book of Acts ends with Paul preaching in Rome, the capital of the world empire, fulfilling Jesus' commission in Acts 1:8 to be witnesses "to the ends of the earth." The Gospel had moved from Jerusalem to the heart of the Roman Empire.
