1 Peter 1:5
Open in Bible Reader"Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time."
What a comfort to close the day with this assurance: we are kept — not by our own strength, not by our own resolve, not by our own faithfulness, but by the power of God. The same omnipotent power that created the world and raised Christ from the dead is actively employed in keeping every blood-bought child of God safe unto the day of salvation.
There are nights when we look back on the day and feel we have failed miserably. Our faith wavered, our patience snapped, our love grew cold. In those moments, the enemy whispers that we are beyond hope, that God has given up on us. But Peter says otherwise: we are kept by God's power, through faith. Even our faith is a gift from Him.
Rest tonight in the glorious truth that your salvation does not depend upon your ability to hold on to God, but upon His ability to hold on to you. And He who holds the oceans in the hollow of His hand will never let you slip through His fingers. You are kept, beloved. Eternally, irrevocably, joyfully kept.
