1 Corinthians 3:11
Open in Bible Reader"For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ."
The wise builder examines his foundation before he raises his walls. Dear friend, upon what does your hope rest this morning? If it rests upon your own goodness, your own efforts, or the approval of men, then your house is built upon sand and the storms of life will surely bring it down. But if your hope rests upon Christ alone — upon His finished work, His shed blood, His triumphant resurrection — then you stand upon a rock that cannot be moved.
Jesus Christ is the only foundation that will endure the fires of testing. Every other ground is sinking sand. The moralist trusts in his deeds, but deeds cannot satisfy divine justice. The philosopher trusts in his reason, but reason cannot fathom infinite holiness. Only Christ, who is both God and man, can bridge the chasm between a holy God and sinful humanity.
Begin this day by resting your full weight upon this sure foundation. Do not divide your trust between Christ and something else. He alone is sufficient. Build upon Him your prayers, your plans, and your purposes, and when the storms come — as they surely will — you will find that your house stands firm.
